So
you were probably wondering what the word "cepheus"
actually means?
Cepheus
was the King of Jopa, which he ruled with his beautiful wife,
Cassiopeia, and his equally beautiful daughter, Andromeda. Cepheus'
wife Cassiopia was terribly vain, so much so that she once boasted
that she and Andromedia were more beautiful than the Nereids,
who were sea nymphs, renowned for their beauty and grace.
The Nereids complained of this insult to Poseidon and demanded
that he punish Cepheus and his conceited wife. Poseidon sent a
terrible flood to Jopa and then unleashed Cetus the Sea-monster
to ravage Jopa's coast. Cepheus was powerless as his kingdom and
his subjects were being destroyed.
He went to the Oracle of Amnon to seek advice. The Oracle prophesied
that the only way to save his kingdom was to sacrifice his daughter
Andromeda to the sea-monster. Cepheus was beside himself with
despair. He couldn't willingly allow his daughter to be killed,
yet, if he didn't, his kingdom and all of its inhabitants would
be destroyed.
In the end, Cepheus succumbed to the good of the many and ordered
his daughter to be chained to a great rock on the coast. Just
when the monster was approaching Andromeda, Perseus was flying
above the spectacle and offered to kill the monster in exchange
for Andromeda's hand in marriage. Cepheus quickly agreed to the
terms and Perseus flew down with the aid of his winged sandals
and beheaded the beast. Thus, saving not only his future wife,
but Cepheus and his kingdom.

OK,
I understand the history bit - so why did you choose the nick
cepheus?
People
have asked me if I chose the nick Cepheus because I considered
myself a Greek God, a King or even that maybe I thought I was
a star!! LOL ...but it couldn't be further from the truth.
Well....one of my favourite books is called "The Little Prince"
by Antoine De Saint Exupery. I won't spoil the book for you if
you haven't read it (You really must go and read it!!) but basically
the Little Prince visited Earth from Asteroid B-612. When the
time came for the Little Prince to return home he said:
"In
one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing.
And so it will be as if all the stars are laughing, when you look
at the sky at night...you-only you-will have stars that can laugh!"
Sadly,
one of my children, Daniel, died 8years ago and the passage above
was read at his funeral; and later was put onto his grave stone.
I subsequently named a star in memory of Daniel and named the star
that was numbered 000612 in the National Star Registry - the same
number as the asteroid the Little Prince lived on. This star I was
told was in the constellation Cepheus.
So,
when I came to register a nick many years ago I chose Cepheus1...because
it was unique in as much as I could always get that name...and of
course, in memory of Daniel.

one ever truly dies - as long as someone remembers them" |

Tell
us a bit about you then!
My
name is James Turner - although I am Jim to my friends! I live in
Buckinghamshire in the UK with my family. I am 42 years old and
have 3 beautiful children - Ben who is 14, Jessica who is 12 and
Joe who is 10.
I
am the Managing Director of Human Performance Limited, a business
that I set up in May 2002 which is a Human Resources consultancy
business.
When
I left school I trained as a Chef and did a 5 year apprenticeship
in a number of London restaurants before I qualified.
I
went back to College when I was 22 as a Lecturer and spent 2 years
teaching professional Chefs.
Having
gained Teaching and Training qualifications I moved into Personnel
and Training within the Catering Industry - at one point spending
2 years as the Personnel and Training Manager for London Zoo - and
no...I didn't train the animals!
I
spent 10 years working in HR, regularly getting promoted, until
I was Head of Development for the largest Convenience Retailer in
the UK - Employing over 12,000 staff in 1200 stores throughout the
UK!
I
turned 40 in 2002 and with the impending big 4 0 looming I decided
at the beginning of 2001 that I didn't want to work for someone
else for the rest of my life! So that's really how Human Performance
got of the ground.
At
the beginning of 2002 I went back to college to learn HTML coding;
and in September 2003 I enrolled for my Webmasters Diploma which
involved learning Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Networking Fundamentals
and Web Server Management!
Which
brings us "bang-up to date"! Human
Performance Limited has been going for almost 5 years and I
just launched World
Wide Web Performance!
Please
have a look at my websites...and
don't hesitate to contact
me if I can be of help to your business!

Well,
I have to drive quite a lot - so it's always nice to drive a car
that is comfortable and lots of fun! My current car is shown to
the left - it's a BMW 320 td se with sports suspension, sports seats,
extra wide alloys and bluetooth telephone preparation! |

Motorbikes!
I didn't
ride a motorcycle until I was 27 and have a been a big fan ever
since! My first bike was a Honda NSR 125 and after passing my test
within 12 weeks of buying that I took it back to the shop and got
the full price credited against a Honda CBR 600! My current bike
- on the right - was purchased 4 years ago and is a Suzuki GSXR
600. I love the colour and it's so fast! |

Music,
Music, Music and....did I say....MUSIC?
I
am a massive music fan! I can live without the TV, but don't take
away my music! The music that changed my life was back in 1977 and
the group were The Clash; but most importantly it was Joe Strummer's
music that I really cared about. There is a site dedicated to him
called YallaYalla
- take a look!

Guitars
& Drums
I'm
a frustrated musician at heart and really wish I had the time to
learn to play my drums and my fender guitar!
I
did take drum lessons a few years before work got in the way, but
when I'm sat at the drums trying to play "Time is Tight"
I could almost be Topper!
But
one day I'll strap on that guitar and learn how to play - until
then it looks great in the corner of my bedroom! |

Other
Hobbies & Interests
Where
do I start? I've done compound archery for a couple of years and
achieved 1st Class Bowmen. I've become quite a bit of a computer
"nerd" over the past few years! I'm into Pocket PC's in
a big way which you can read more about HERE! I've also got a Pocket
PC Theme company which I started back in January 2002 and you can
learn more about HERE! As I said earlier on in this page, I've been
learning how to design web sites and have been at college studying
for the past year or so - with still another year and more to go!
And of course - I have to make time for my beautiful family!

Seafruit
by Seafruit
I
still love this album...and still no one has ever heard of them.
I seem to have recollections of them releasing another album but
can't really be certain.
I'd
highly recommend you search this album out and give it a listen.
It's very hard to describe who they sound like, but it's great singer/songwriter
music in the vein of The Waterboys and Starsailor..
Favourite
songs from this album are the single Looking for Sparks and Tenderhooks!
You won't be disappointed! |

Streetcore
by Joe Strummer
The
last album Joe was working on before his untimely death at the
age of 50! Released post-humously by his band The Mescaleros this
is a fantastic piece of music that hints at just how good Joe
was going to continue to get over the coming years!
Sadly
we have been robbed of his talent and that great big heart of
his, but listening to this and the rest of his music keeps him
alive!
My
favourite is still Coma Girl and every time I get to the end of
the album and here him sing Silver & Gold I get tears in my
eyes. God bless you Joe x

Still
Life by Aqualung
The
2nd Album from this group who became famous when a song from their
first album was used as a television commercial!
This
is another album full of depressing music that I would compare to
Coldplay, Travis and Radiohead!
This
is a really beautiful album that not all the critics were fans of
- but why listen to what the critics say? Buy this album and judge
for yourself!
A
great 2nd album from Aqualung! |

Dead
Famous by Ben Elton
I
am a fan of Ben Elton as I find his books highly entertaining and
he is a very competent writer.
This
book is set on a "Big Brother" style set where 1 of the
contestants has been murdered. The investigation takes place whilst
the "inmates" are confined to the house!
This
is Ben's very cleverly observed dig at all these reality tv shows
that makes for our prime-time viewing these days!
A
very amusing book with a great ending that you will probably not
work out! |

Dreamweaver
MX
by
Macromedia
This
book is subtitled "Training From The Source" and you'll
find it hard to find a better book if you want to learn how to use
Dreamweaver MX.
As
I have said, I am currently studying for my Web Masters Diploma
and this book has proved invaluable as I attempt to get to grips
with all the features the software has.
You
get straight-forward lessons to work your way through and a CD that
contains all the resources to complete the work. You even get a
30 day trial of Dreamweaver MX thrown in as well! A great book to
become a web master! |
